Sleep walking into someone else's dream...
An invitation to connect with yourself - join me on the journey to the real you!
Hello you!
Last night I attended an online ‘cuppa’ chat as part of a membership I am in, run by Pippa Myers Wilcox at Middle Years Mondays.
The topic was loosely based around our dreams for our lives, what dreams are, how they might be achieved, where they come from and it was such an interesting discussion; having dreams and fantasies just for the sake of having them, what we do with unfulfilled dreams, when do we put dreams down, is it easier to hold dreams lightly when you are already pretty fulfilled and so much more.
We also noted how other people’s or societies dreams can be imposed on us and I made the point that sometimes we sleepwalk into someone else’s dream, or at least a dream that isn’t fully ours.
Maybe you can recall a time where this has happened to you. Big or small, you’ve started to want something or pursue and perhaps even achieve a dream which, when you’ve become more conscious, you start to question and doubt was something that you really wanted at all.
This could be a really big thing like a career, a marriage, a child. It could be something smaller, more to do with pursuing a lifestyle, an income level, a style of home, a holiday destination.
When you are in touch with yourself and who you really are, this sleepwalking is harder to fall into. With self wisdom and understanding, it is easier to pursue the dreams that really matter to you, to know what they really are.
And I can help you with this.
It’s not uncommon at all to be disconnected with your true and wisest self and if you feel a little removed from your true self at the moment, please don’t beat yourself up. Life conspires against us, especially women, when it comes to being our true selves and allowing ourselves the time, space and energy to figure out who we are and what we want.
Other people’s needs take over. Whether its children, partners, the corporate ladder, ageing parents, community commitments, women at all stages of life come up against barriers to fully taking up space in their lives and remaining in touch with their true selves.
