A reframe to take control
Further insights into being before doing and having - plus journal prompts & an invitation to join me for free this Sunday.
Hey you!
This is a quick follow up to my last post/ email, prompted by this excellent observation from
.The ‘being’ part of life is essential, and as I pointed out, in this piece, should come before doing and having.
But there’s something else that’s great about focusing on ‘being’ as Jen
points out.Being is IN YOUR CONTROL.
Doing and especially having, are not always in your control.
Look at an aspect of your life that you are feeling struggle with, I’ll select business as that’s where much of my coaching work is focused, helping women grow their small creative businesses.
If you are not getting what you want, look at who you are being, before even the actions you take. Actions are where we naturally focus when things aren’t working out - what am I not doing? what actions should I take?
Not to say that action isn’t important, it is, but if you think that doing comes from your being - let’s start there. Who are you being? Who are you not being?
Who are you showing up as in your business? Are you being resilient? Resourceful? Curious? Nurturing? Creative?
Or are you being resentful? Pessimistic? Resigned? Fearful? Self critical?
Instead of trying to control the having with only the doing - start with your being first.
I hope this helps.
JOURNAL PROMPTS
If you journal, try using the following prompts in your practice;
Who am I current being in my xxxx( insert life, business, relationships, creativity)
Who could I BE in order to turn xxxx situation around?
If I am being more xxxx (insert helpful word like resilient, curious, relaxed) what might be able to do and have?
Speaking of journaling, a reminder that my monthly journaling session is Sunday 31 March at 7pm - the perfect way to end the month.
I intend to use the above and the last article as a prompt for the work we do in that hour long journaling session so if you’re curious, come along. We will set some intentions for who we want to BE in April and the energy we want to bring to our lives and work.
It’s part of my paid membership and costs £7 a month - you also get to be in The Selfish Bookclub too!
So if you’re not already a paid member, feel free to upgrade.
If you’d like to wait, free subscribers will be sent a 14 day free trial link on the morning of the 31st which will enable you to try the journaling session AND the first 2 weeks of the bookclub before your paid subscription starts. So if you’re not a current subscriber to Gather & Grow, sign up today.
Or you can just dive straight in!
The link for journaling is at the bottom of this email for all of you already in the club ;)
With love,
