Welcome all who find themselves here...
About me, why I do what I do and why you might want to be here with me :)
Hello! am Sarah. Welcome to Gather & Grow, a space I have created for creative midlife women, here on Substack, the internet and in the world generally!
If you’re looking for support and a soft place to land amongst all the joys and trials of living a creative life in these often unsettling and ever changing times - you’re in the right place.
I’m already very curious about you to be perfectly honest as I find creative women endlessly fascinating and if you let me, I want to help you to be successful and happy in whatever way that is meaningful for you.
Here you’ll find content and resources all around the topics of mindset, business growth and slow intentional productivity and living, all to help you thrive.
It’s my way of sharing my experiences and findings as a coach working with creative women and also reflections and knowledge build from my own personal journey as a business owner, coach, menopausal woman, mum to a baby who was then a toddler and then a kid and is now a teenager and all that this means.
The first and best way to dive in with me
Although I offer 1:1 coaching and group coaching, perhaps the best and easiest way to get to know me and to benefit from my experience is to join my membership.
Paid subscribers get all sorts of additional value including:
Monthly live journaling sessions with a new theme each month to guide us and help us growth through out the year (non live version also available),
Access to The Selfish Bookclub which has resources and workbooks to help you get the very most from reading a self development classic. So far we have delved into Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert and Playing Big by Tara Mohr.
A growing bank of evergreen workshops and downloadable worksheets, planners and guided visualisations around subjects such as fear, building habits, goal setting and more. You can go at your own pace and work through what’s useful to you, in your own time.
About me
I live an intentionally quiet life. I love all that that slow living, organic business growth stuff and I do live semi rurally in a teensy village, bake cakes, spend time in nature and all that ‘good life’ stuff but I am also quite witty, blunt, earthy and sometimes I roll my eyes and say the good swear words. So I am not that insta-floaty thing around slow living and productivity, that’s not happening here :) nope!
Let’s skip the life story and CV and get straight to the heart of it. I am a coach for creative business women, I trained in 2005/6 and after a career in audience development in the cultural sector for 13 years I have run my own businesses since 2007 including a branding and marketing consultancy.
Here are my four core values and why they are important in relation to what I offer you.
I’m a/ an….
Optimist
I believe the best way to approach life is with a positive mindset. No this doesn’t mean bad things won’t happen, yes it does mean you’re better equipped to deal with life in all it’s shades and forms. By training yourself to look for and expect the best, you more often find this too. If you don’t feel you currently have a positive, growth mindset, I’ll help you find one.
Encourager
This is my super power. I’m incredibly encouraging and it’s the one thing that my clients value. They always feel like things are more possible after working with me and I believe this is because I can see the strengths and powers within them that they can’t and I encourage them to see those things too. You’re way more amazing than you think you are. Fact.
Eye-opener
I’d be VERY disappointed if anyone working with me, whether in 1:1 coaching, in my group coaching programme or as part of my membership here on Substack didn’t have at least one major AHA moment - maybe a few. I’m here to bring about change and in doing that, to help you have realisations, epiphanies, mindset shifts to that you can see things more clearly. I turn the lights on. From ‘ah now I get it’ to OH MY GOD I DIDN’T KNOW I FELT LIKE THAT/ WANTED TO DO THAT/ BELIEVED I COULD DO THAT, it’s all about shifting perspectives and allowing you to uncover who you really are, what you really want and what you’re really capable of.
Gatherer
I bring women together. Although I do 1:1 work with women and I love that relationship and dynamic, I feel I really come into my own when I gather women together, whether that be online in groups, or in real life at an event. We can all learn so much from each other and there’s nothing like a group of curious, open minded women to spark and encourage one another and to create accountability and action.
So that’s all about me. Of course there is more, I’m a business owner since 2005, I’m a trained coach since 2006, I have worked in marketing since 1995, and I also know a lot about branding and communications generally.
I’m a wife since 2004 and I’m a mother since 2009. I love nature, food, walking, talking, reading, writing. And my dog Albus! My favourite colour is sea green, I love chocolate and cheese, my favourite sound is rain on window. Lavender smells great.
What else? I want to help women succeed. I want to life a simple, happy life. I want to get more sleep!
