When you know a goal is aligned… But still don't take action to achieve it
Getting our of your own way - with a little help from your new friends...
Hey you!
Have you ever had an idea for something you want to achieve, something that feels so right for you that it make the hairs stand up on your neck? Something that seem to flick a switch in you, and really lands in your body with the tingles?
I have had loads of these kinds of ideas and goals in the past, gone down many a rabbit hole of excitement, immediate research, planning (SO much planning), maybe even talking about the idea to other people and then… didn’t take action, or took some action and then halted.
Eventually giving up on the idea entirely, or putting it away in the ‘I’ll do that another time when I am more….’ pile.
Does this resonate with you?
I’m guessing it will as it’s incredibly common and the world is full of creative, resourceful people like you who get stuck in the goal setting process, even when the idea is aligned, right for you and therefore is more likely to flow.
It took me a long time to get out of this cycle and look, it’s not that I NEVER achieved anything or didn’t complete any goals.
It’s just that for a while when I was starting and building my business, I gave up on too many things, too quickly.
Things which were right for me but I didn’t get done and benefit from.
Because the truth is, even when a goal is deeply aligned, resistance still shows up.
Why is this?
Many reasons, but here are those that feel true for me and I have also seen countless times in my coaching clients.
Fear of actually getting what we want (because what if it changes things?)
Fear of failure - and what will people think?
Progress feels slow so you feel that something is wrong and you stop
The old, familiar comfort of staying where we are (even if we don’t want to stay stuck)
Not seeing the entire path ahead (so we hesitate, waiting for the perfect plan)
Listening to the stories we tell ourselves about whether we are good/ smart/ talented or likeable enough to pull this thing off
Lacking the structure and support to get things done when they bring up negative emotions like boredom or fear
Allowing ourselves to get sidetracked by the latest great idea we just had!
We think the problem is lack of motivation or discipline, that we are ‘flaky’ but it’s not.
It’s just the natural discomfort of stepping into something new. This is what procrastination REALLY is, it’s avoiding uncomfortable emotions by putting our attention elsewhere.
What If You Didn’t Have to Do It Alone?
This is where support makes all the difference. Not in a ‘push harder’ kind of way, but in a ‘how can we make this easier’ kind of way. With curiosity and clarity and in a way that gives you what you need, be that new input, accountability, a pep talk or a mindset shift.
Inside my group coaching programme, Believe & Achieve, we don’t just talk about your goals. We create space to:
Identify what’s actually stopping you—so you can move forward
Learn to take action without waiting for the ‘perfect’ moment or having to do everything brilliantly
Stay accountable in a way that feels supportive, not stressful
Because when you have people around you who get it, who reflect back your clarity, who remind you that yes, this goal is worth pursuing, it’s easier to find the courage and the momentum take the next step.
As Believe & Achieve is an evergreen programme, the doors are open now. If you’re ready to stop waiting and start moving—at a pace that feels right for you—I’d love for you to join us! We are a small group, and the programme offers a lot of support and attention to keep you on track including:
Weekly group coaching
Weekly co-working x 2
Regular workshops
Monthly goal setting/ progress sessions
Why not grab a discovery call with me to get some clarity on a goal that you are not currently moving ahead with, and find out more about whether the programme is a good fit for you*?
I say this a lot but this call is NOT a sales pitch, it’s an opportunity for you to get some clarity on a goal, for us both to get curious about each other and see if we want to work together or not - that’s all!
I believe that your aligned goals are waiting for you to get started, just on the other side of the obstacles currently placed in your way. Let’s find a way through and make them happen.
With love,
Sarah x
PS The programme is £99 a month, paid monthly and with a minimum commitment of just 3 months so your initial investment is just £297 overall, in three payments, for three months of coaching, community, accountability and growth. Bargain.
*The programme involves live sessions online with me, some of which are morning sessions and I am in the UK, so it works for those who can work with that time zone. I can work 1:1 with people in different time zones so we can still chat possibilities if that is you!
