Something which I got better at saying to myself during the pandemic was "I'm doing the best I can with the resources I have right now". I find it enormously helpful when I'm feeling overwhelmed and it's a great reminder that we can't/shouldn't be giving 100% to everything all the time. Sending love to you with your poor dog too
"I'm doing the best I can with the resources I have right now" This is brilliant, I'm going to have to remember this for my times of overwhelm as well. Thank you for sharing.
This felt like a comforting hug across the internet waves; thank you. I’m sorry to read that you feel heartbroken. Please know that your words have made me feel like my best efforts (which in this season of motherhood often look like 3 hrs per day *absolute maximum*) are still enough 🥰
I felt like I had a 110% day yesterday. Which resulted in a 15% day today. Might focus on being idle tomorrow. As there is no better way to recharge.
So sorry to hear about your dog Sarah. “Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day.
It is amazing how much love and laughter they bring into our lives and even how much closer we become with each other because of them.” ~ John Grogan
So sorry about your dog! Hope you’re having some nice moments together.
That’s something we discussed with my wife, how do we have systems flexible enough that can withstand when a lot of unexpectedness comes our way. Part of it is mindset but also being proactive.
We lost our elderly dog over Christmas. I wanted you to know I'm thinking about you, it's a tough time. xx Also, thank you for this post. I have had the builders in for nearly three weeks, ripping the kitchen out, drilling, switching the electricity off...it's been a tough time to be a silky employed work from home writer. In the end I decided to just go with the flow, allow the work to go on around me and give my brain a break. The world did not end. x

Absolutely - so much progress lost for the idea that it's not being done properly! I'll give Boots a neck scritch from you x

Lots of love to you and Boots, the heartbreak is like nothing else xx

Thanks Christian, he is a very good boy. Idleness and shed pottering are great restoratives!

Thinking of you Sarah, I know from experience how heartbreaking 💔 this is. 🐾
